Black Friday

Black Friday in Seattle

I have so many posts to catch up on but I thought I should update my trip to Seattle for Black Friday first since it was just 2 weeks a month ago.

It was kind of a last minute trip K and I have been talking about it for over a week, but never got around to deciding if we were going for sure. I only found at 6pm Friday night (when K got off work) that we were going to actually go, so I had no plans on where to go, eat and sleep. It took us 3 hours alone to prepare for the trip!

I was kind of doubtful at this time, because I like having everything planned ahead of time and because it was almost 10pm I thought the line up at the borders would be super long. Surprisingly, I was wrong. The border wait was less than 15 mins.

Here was our itinerary:

- Seattle Premium Outlets
- Best Buy
- Fry's Electronics
- Hotel (Pacific Executive Hotel)
- Northgate Mall
- Nordstrom Rack
- Westfield Southcenter

If you live in Seattle, without thinking you would know that something is wrong with the order of our itinerary. Shopping at the outlets took longer than we thought, by the time we were finished it was already 12:30am - 1:00am, we had to drive an additional 1.5 hours to get to the hotel which would give us 2:30am for our arrival time. We had to check out at 11am, giving us not many hours to sleep already, So, if we were to go Best Buy and Fry's it would probably take up another 1 - 2 hour.

Another issue that came up was that it was K's first time in Seattle so he had no idea where we were going or what he wanted to do. The hotel we booked was a 3.6-star in the heart of downtown, 1 block away from Louis Vuitton and Gucci and right beside the W Hotel.

I just have to say that for a hotel in the heart of downtown, The Pacific Executive Hotel was a disappointment. First of all, we arrived at 2:30am.

- there was no option for late check out
- the valet was full
- parking costed $25
- the building was old and has not been recently renovated (reason why I say this is because the elevator felt like it could stop any minute and the ceiling above the shower had huge cracks and looked like it was going to fall down)
- there was a glow stick hanging off the picture frame in our room
- the shower did not supply hot water so we had to change rooms in the middle of the night

To be honest, it was the last 2 points that disappointed me the most. Lets just say I had higher expectations.

Infamous sign
Little girl playing the violin outside

 The generous people of Seattle

Within 5 mins... (see her violin box?) I mean she's so cute and talented, how can you resist?!?

Inside the Public Market, too early = ="

Tye-dye clothing - haven't seen those since the 90's

Flower vendors

Anyways, when we woke up we headed to Pike Place Public Market looking for food, it was recommended by K's sister (very reliable source when it comes to food).

Busy making Piroshkies

Breakfast.

We were told that Piroshky Piroshky and Clam Chowder were really good, so we had to go try it for ourselves. Unfortunately it was pouring throughout our stay in Seattle so K didn't want to walk in the rain for too long. We quickly grabbed 2 beef and cheese piroshkys and drove off to our next destination (Northgate Mall)

To our disappointment Northgate mall was smaller than we hoped for, the main reason why we wanted to go in the first place was because there was a Nordstrom Rack. None of us have been to Nordstrom Rack before but we've heard really good reviews saying how they have great discounts designer stuff.

I ended up buying a pair of Kate Spade rain boots and some make up.

December Topbox

It's my favorite time of my favorite month again! I always wake up early and patiently wait near the door just so I don't miss the mail man. I love receiving parcels, I have horrible memory so every time I receive something its like a present for myself.

This month's Topbox is wrapped in RED to raise Christmas spirit.  I'm usually not a fan of red but I have to say the color red is growing on me and will definitely be the new color of the year.

 Inside my Topbox... :)

A couple Topboxes ago I received Chole Lotion, now I have Chloe eau de parfum too

I've never heard of this brand before, Ferro Cosmetics, this is the Blush 3x (for cheeks, eyes and lips). On the label it says that this product is Paraben free, chemical free and cruelty free.

I was really excited when I saw this because I've used Murad in the past and there was a point in time when I fell head over heels for their lip treatment. This here is the AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser.

This is the Jelly Boost from Goldwell, Goldwell is mainly know for their hair dyes that is used in salons. This product will add extra volume to your hair.

Did I ever mention I'm a huge hair care fanatic? Reason is because last year I unwillingly had my hair dyed and permed on the same day making my hair really dead, dry and weak, imagine poodles with untameable hair. That was me. Anyways since then I've invested in so many hair care products and treatments at salons but nothing worked, in the end I had to cut my hair and wait for it to grow back.

Featured on the Campus Scene Section of Asian Post

I was helping out at the Vancouver Fashion Week when Wilson approached me, at first I thought maybe I knew him from somewhere because I do go to a lot of events where I meet new people all the time. He introduced himself and kindly asked me if I was interested in doing a shoot for Asian Post. I've never been featured in a newspaper before so I was ecstatic and quickly agreed! After all it's a great opportunity to gain more experience. For this shoot I teamed up with Wilson and Sarah to produce the following:

Sarah did a bolder look for me, I was a little nervous at first cause I felt that having bright bold lips would draw too much attention to me, but I kind of fell in love with dark pinky lips. It really makes my lips pop.

What do you prefer? Subtle nude lips or Bold lips?

Japadog (Robson) on Urbanspoon

I know that Japadog has been around for many years now, but I never got the chance to try it out for myself. I've tried Grazy Dog, but not Japadog, I think its mainly because of the location. The reason why I rarely go downtown is because a) I'm lazy b) it takes forever looking for a parking spot and c) parking gets really expensive.

I was shopping with A a while ago when we got hungry a decided to go grab food, A recommended Japadog and was surprised that I had never had it before since it's been popular for so long. I know~~ no excuses… so I agreed to try. Its funny because I've lived in Vancouver all my life and I still don't know my way around downtown, it's nice to know my phone has GPS!!

I got the Tonkatsu <3

A got the Terimayo

What I liked the most about Japadog was their selection of sauces!

Honey Mustard, Wasabi and BBQ (and this is what we took to our table, there were more!)

The place is quite small so I guess they had to be smart when it comes to furniture etc. You know how girls like to shop and have bags and bags of stuff? Japadog put a "shelf" under the table so your stuff won't have to be on the floor! (kudos to the designer)

Patisserie Für Elise on Urbanspoon

- - - - - - Long awaited post no more!

I found out about this place through a friend's Facebook, she posted some pictures of the waitresses in cute outfits and the food. I just had to ask where this place was, because it didn't look like it belonged in Vancouver, it was simply too cute! Going high tea makes me want to dress up like a doll. pouffy dress, big hair, high heels, lace, pink! *self control*

I arrived a little early so I had to wait outside for a bit, as it turns out they open at 1:00 pm no earlier. I took advantage of the free time i  had to take pictures of the place, the location was very interesting, its actually at a heritage house on Robson st.

From the outside to the inside it was clear they wanted it to look like a dollhouse.

I wasn't the only one waiting outside not long after my arrival, groups of people joined me in waiting to be let in.

Upon our arrival we were given a menu, for TEAS!

I got the blueberry yoghurt, it came in really fancy cups, each person had a different cup. I was so amazed i had to take pictures of everyones cup.

Next thing that fascinated me was their strainer, it looked like a littler bird fountain.

Simple and cute.

my tea set :)

this is how the strainer is used.

The goodies I put into my tea

As for the food, here is what we had:

Appetizer: Chocolate Mousse

Bottom Layer:

Top Layer:

There's something about high tea that when you look at the portions, they seem small, but when you actually get to eating it, you can never finish.

Patisserie Fur Elise also has a store front when you walk in where they sell their products!
